I know this one may seem obvious but many of you may never have even heard of lungwort before. Lungwort can clear up your congestion but it also has compounds in it that are pretty effective against organisms that can harm your respiratory system.
Oh yes its for much more than the holidays! Peppermint and peppermint oils contain menthol which can help you breathe more freely because it relaxes the respiratory muscles. When you have these two things (peppermint and menthol) working together you can get decongested and even help cleanse your lungs.
Now I know you think “oh that looks and smells amazing” but did you know its also great for your lung health? The reason for this is Eucalyptus contains cineole as part of its composition. This is why it is great for easing coughs, fighting congestion and soothing irritated passages.
This one is a bit different but it can truly help soothe irritated mucous membranes and ease coughing wile it helps to fight infection and remove phlegm. It has even been studied in clinical trials that have found it favorable against cough, cold, and lung irritation.
Yes it tastes great in pumpkin pie but more than that it contains two compounds – carvacrol and rosmarinic acid – which are great decongestants and antihistamine reducers. This is why oregano has been used to treat things such as cold, flu, cough, sore throat and even bronchitis
So there you have it…. a natural way to clear out that congestion (which I have been dealing with hence my research!)
